QUEENS, N.Y. - St. John's Women's Soccer Coach Ian Stone has announced the signing of four student athletes to National Letters of Intent for the upcoming season.
Hannah Dawicki, Jenna Huskey, Jordan Kamp and Christine McBeath comprise the four-player class, which will suit up for the Red Storm beginning in the fall of 2016.
"These four outstanding young ladies epitomize what it means to be a St. John's Women's Soccer student-athlete," commented Stone. "They are all talented soccer players, excellent students and fantastic human beings."
Dawicki, a 5-8 midfielder, comes to St. John's following a standout career at Tabor Academy. A four-year varsity player and a captain as a senior in 2015, Dawicki tallied 18 goals and 24 assists for her career, during which the Seawolves compiled a cumulative record of 53-14-6.
As a senior, Dawicki was named to the Boston Globe Prep School All-Scholastic Team and won Tabor's Ian Patrick Award for dedication and team spirit. That season Dawicki led Tabor to a runner-up finish in New England Prep School Athletic Council Class B, a title which the Seawolves won in 2013 thanks in large part to Dawicki's efforts.
Dawicki has played for the Boston Breakers of the Elite Club National League since 2014. Prior to her time with the Breakers, the Fairhaven, Mass., native played for South Shore Select Elite from 2010-14. While with South Shore Select Elite, Dawicki played for Jim Leaverton, the father of former St. John's standout and current Red Storm assistant coach Jen Leaverton.
Off the field, Dawicki has undertaken several charitable endeavors with The Elizabeth Taber Foundation and her local Special Olympics chapter and is a four-year member of her school's honor roll.
Huskey comes to St. John's from the Garden State, where she was a four-year standout at Freehold High School. A captain as a senior, Huskey helped the Colonials to three division championships from 2012-14, as the team put together a three-year record of 51-5-1. As a sophomore, Huskey had her finest statistical season, tallying 18 goals.
A versatile player that can play a variety of positions, Huskey was named Second Team All-Shore by the Asbury Park Press following her senior season. She was also named All-Division and All-District.
On the club circuit, Huskey suited for Players Development Academy South Spurs, who enjoyed an undefeated National Premier League season in 2014-15.
Off the pitch, Huskey is an active volunteer at her local church and an ever-present member of her school's honor roll.
The third member of the 2016 recruiting class, Kamp comes to Queens from Allentown, Pa., where she played four years as a goalkeeper at Salisbury High School. Over her career, Kamp registered astounding numbers in the saves department. As a junior in 2014, Kamp turned away 152 opposing shots. She reached triple digits once again as a senior captain, tallying 101 saves. Kamp also made her presence felt on the offensive end of the pitch, recording four assists as a junior and one helper as a senior.
Kamp earned numerous accolades throughout her high school career, being named to the Colonial All-League Team three seasons in a row from 2013-15 and earning three spots on the Morning Call All-Area First Team during that same time period. A three-time defensive MVP for her high school team, Kamp was also a nominee for the High School Soccer All-American Game.
Kamp played five years at the highest level on the club circuit, guarding the net for Continental FC Delco of the ECNL.
A member of her high school's debate team and the secretary of the Student Advisory Committee, Kamp is very active in the community. Kamp is also a standout in the classroom, earning spots on the high honor roll and in the National Honor Society, while earning the school's scholar athlete award for girl's soccer.
Rounding out this year's recruiting class is McBeath, a 5-5 midfielder/defender from Williamsburg, Va.
A product of Walsingham Academy, McBeath excelled at several sports during her high school career, earning varsity letters in soccer, cross country and basketball. As a sophomore, McBeath tallied six goals and 10 assists for the Trojans before enjoying a breakout season a junior, netting 24 goals and dishing out nine assists. A noted team leader, McBeath has served as a team captain in both soccer and basketball.
McBeath has enjoyed a number of accolades during her high school career, earning two all-state selections (2014, 2015) and three All-Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools nods (2013, 2014, 2015). McBeath still has an opportunity to add to her trophy case, as her school plays soccer in the spring as opposed to the fall. A gifted distance runner, McBeath also earned all-state and All-TCIS selections in cross country as a freshman.
A terrific student, McBeath is a member of her school's high honor roll and the National Honor Society.
McBeath played her club soccer for Richmond United of the ECNL and was a member of the Olympic Development Program Region I teams in 2014 and 2015, making international trips to Costa Rica and Croatia. On those ODP teams, McBeath played for Coach Stone and alongside future Red Storm teammates Madeline McCracken and Samie Scaffidi. In 2014, McBeath was named to the ECNL All Mid-Atlantic Region Team.
While these four student-athletes will not begin their St. John's careers until the fall, the current edition of the Red Storm will play seven spring exhibition matches beginning on March 19 against Sky Blue FC of the National Women's Soccer League.
