QUEENS, N.Y. -- After winning three medals in 10 events this season, senior Anna Kim was named to the 2016 All-BIG EAST First Team for the second-straight season, announced by the league's head coaches on Thursday.
"I practiced and worked really hard to get where I am," Kim said. "So, seeing other people realize my accomplishments makes me really happy."
Kim earned the honors following an impressive regular-season with the Red Storm, in which she recorded top-five finishes in half of the team's tournaments. The senior from Toronto posted a 74.60 stroke average throughout the fall and spring campaign playing in the top spot in all 10 events.
The three-time All-BIG EAST selection has been dominant in her three wins this year. She secured the program's 20th individual title at the St. John's Women's Invitational (Oct. 27) by 12 strokes. Kim captured another championship at the Lonnie Barton Invitational (March 8) to join former classmate Harin Lee as the only golfers in program history to win at least three-career medals. Kim closed out the regular-season with a 10-stroke victory at the Hoya Invitational (April 5).
"Anna played strong all year and I am so happy for her and this achievement," head coach Ambry Bishop said. "Anna has been a great player and leader for our program, and this honor captures that success."
The Toronto, Ontario, native is the highest ranked player according to the Golfstat Player Head-to-Head Rankings heading into this weekend's BIG EAST Championship (April 22-24).
St. John's travels to Callawassie, S.C., this weekend to compete at the BIG EAST Championship on April 22-24. Kim, who finished as the runner-up two seasons ago, is looking to close out an illustrious career with her first-ever conference title.
