Red Storm Topped by Wildcats, 4-0

VILLANOVA, Pa. -- Villanova used a three-run, two-out rally in the third to defeat the St. John's softball team, 4-0, in Sunday's series finale at the Villanova Softball Complex.
The Red Storm moves to 16-16 overall and 2-4 in the BIG EAST, while the Wildcats improve their record to 14-14 and 3-3 in the conference.
Grace Kramer (8-8) was charged with the loss after giving up three runs on five hits in 2.2 innings of work. The only blemish for Madison Morris in 1.2 innings of relief was a solo home run, while McKenzie Murray did not allow a hit in 1.2 innings out of the bullpen.
Kate Poppe (10-9) earned the victory after registering a complete game shutout in the circle.
Lauren Zick tallied her fourth multi-hit game after recording a single and double. Hannah Anderson, Krystal Puga, Kailtyn Wilkens and Monique Landini each had hits, while Savannah Warren also notched a double.
After two scoreless innings, Villanova used a two out rally to go up, 3-0. A walk to Brittany Husk set up an RBI double from Dana Morris. Nikki Alden then hit a single to plate Morris. Following a single by Chase Snell, Lauren Hanna brought in Alden on a single to left field.
In the fifth, Morris hit a solo home run to straight center before Murray came in with a runner on third and got back-to-back ground outs to keep the game at 4-0.
Next up for St. John's is a home doubleheader on Wednesday against Saint Peter's (0-17) beginning at 2 p.m.
