No. 61 St. John's Cruises Past NJIT, 6-1

FLUSHING, N.Y. - No. 61 St. John's (17-5) made history on Tuesday afternoon defeating NJIT (8-6), 6-1, to tie a program-record with 17 wins in a season. It is the third time in program history that the men's tennis team has reached 17 wins, all under Head Coach Eric Rebhuhn.
The Red Storm's top doubles pair of Vaidik Munshaw and Lucas Hejhal got it started for the Johnnies with a back-and-forth 7-6 victory. The senior duo moved its record to 11-3 when playing together.
At the No. 2 doubles position, Daniel Skripnik and Alan Nunez Aguilera delivered a 7-5 victory to produce the doubles point for the Red Storm. It's the second-straight time this duo teamed up and both matches clinched the doubles point for St. John's. To wrap up doubles play, Roberto Livi and Michael-John Every came-from-behind to knock off Jan Cimrman and Lukas Zvikas, 7-6.
The senior Livi notched his second triumph of the day to get it going for the Red Storm in singles play. The Port St. Lucie, Fla., native recorded a straight-sets win at No. 3 singles for his sixth-straight singles victory. Aguilera picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win at the No. 6 singles position to keep the momentum going for the Red Storm.
Munshaw, a senior from India, clinched the record-tying victory with a straight-sets triumph at No. 4 singles. It is the fifth-straight win for the veteran, who improves his record in singles play to 12-2.
The reigning BIG EAST Player of the Week, Hejhal, recorded a three-set victory at No. 2 singles for his second win of the afternoon. The final match of the day belonged to Andrei Crapcenco, who picked up a 6-2, 7-6 win to improve his singles record to 15-2 this season.
