QUEENS, N.Y. - Former St. John's lacrosse attackman Kieran McArdle was named to 2016 Major League Lacrosse (MLL) All-Star Game Team, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon, marking his second selection to the All-Star team in as many seasons. The former Red Storm star is one of eight attackmen selected to the All-Star Game which will be held on July 9, at Titan Stadium of Cal State Fullerton in Fullerton, Calif.
In addition to the eight attackmen, the roster consists of 14 midfielders, 10 defenders, four goalies and four face-off specialists. On July 8, the two All-Star teams will be selected in a draft by this year's "MLL Ultimate Fan Fantasy" contest winners.
The 2016 MLL All-Star teams will be coached by New York Lizards Head Coach Joe Spallina and Ohio Machine Head Coach Bear Davis. Players were nominated and voted to the All-Star Game roster by head coaches and general managers representing each of the league's nine teams.
Through seven games this season with the Florida Launch, McArdle sits 11th in the league in points scored with 25 on 15 goals and 10 assists. McArdle leads the Launch in both goals and assists.
The most decorated player in program history, McArdle was named a three-time All-American by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) and garnered two BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year awards.
The game will be broadcast exclusively live on the CBS Sports Network at 7 p.m., on Saturday, July 9. Tickets for the game start at just $30 and are available for purchase on the MLL website.
