QUEENS, N.Y. - After impressing in her debut with the full English National Team in June, Rachel Daly has once again been called into service for the Lionesses, earning a spot on the 23-person roster for next week's training camp.
The Lionesses will meet at St George's Park on Sunday, Aug. 14, where they will stay for five days, before moving to Bisham Abbey on Thursday, Aug. 18, for two days.
Daly's stock has risen meteorically over the past few months, as the former Red Storm star netted a goal in her first-ever game with the full English National Team, helping the Lionesses cruise to a 7-0 win over Serbia in UEFA Euro 2017 qualifying on June 4.
The Harrogate, England, native earned a selection to that squad thanks in large part to her stellar start with the Houston Dash of the National Women's Soccer League. In 12 games this season, Daly leads Houston with four goals and three assists, good enough for sixth in the league overall in both those categories and tops among rookies.
After graduating as the most prolific player in St. John's history following the fall semester, Daly was taken sixth overall by the Dash in the 2016 NWSL College Draft. In three years with the Red Storm, Daly tallied 50 goals and 111 points, both of which set program records despite Daly's relatively brief tenure. She was a two-time NSCAA All-American, a two-time BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year, a three-time First Team All-BIG EAST Selection, a two-time MAC Hermann Trophy watchlist honoree and a semifinalist for the award in 2015. Daly twice finished in the top three nationally in scoring, leading the NCAA with 23 goals in 2013 before ranking third with 19 tallies as a senior in 2015. With Daly on the squad, the Red Storm made two appearances in the NCAA Tournament and won the program's first-ever BIG EAST Regular Season Championship during her season campaign.
The English National Team will next be in action on Tues., Sept. 20, when they travel to Leuven to take on Belgium.
