QUEENS, N.Y. -- Former St. John's women's golfers Rachel Carpenter, Anna Kim, Harin Lee and Jennifer Neville will begin Qualifying School Stage I for the LPGA and Symetra Tours today in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
The four former teammates are among 347 golfers who will compete over the next four days at the Mission Hills Country Club and the Westin Mission Hills Resort for a chance to be invited to the LPGA Tour.
"I am really excited to have four of our former players competing in the 2016 LPGA Qualifying School," said Head Coach Ambry Bishop. "All of these players have had many successes at St. John's and I know they can all continue their success this week. They are great representatives of St. John's University and the women's golf program. The St. John's family will be cheering them this week!"
Named a WGCA All-American Scholar in 2014, Carpenter competed in all nine events for the Red Storm during that season, recording a 79.27 stroke average. The Suffolk, Va., native won her first collegiate title at the St. John's Women's Invitational in Oct. of 2013.
One of the most renowned golfers in program history, Kim closed her BIG EAST career with three All-BIG EAST selections, three top-seven finishes at the conference tournament and four career-medals.
Lee graduated in 2014 as one of the most accomplished golfers in St. John's history as she won a program-record 10 individual titles and four-straight All-BIG EAST honors. She was recognized as the BIG EAST Golfer of the Year after capping off her senior season with a BIG EAST Championship.
Neville captured two individual medals over three seasons with the Red Storm. The Bradenton, Fla., native competed in all nine events during her senior campaign, wrapping up her final year with a 77.95 stroke average.
There will be a cut after three rounds in which the top 130 golfers will play the final-round. After four rounds, the top-60 players will advance to Stage II of LPGA Qualifying Tournament on October 17-23 in Venice, Fla.
