MIAMI - The St. John's men's tennis team (1-3) fell to the University of North Florida (1-2) at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center in Coral Gables, Fla., on Saturday. The Johnnies closed out a four game season-opening road trip, 1-3, against teams from the Sunshine State.
The Johnnies took on another tough opponent in the UNF Ospreys who boast a pair of nationally ranked student-athletes.
In doubles play, Roberto Livi and Alan Nunez Aguilera lost a tough battle to No. 12 ranked- Jack Findel-Hawkins and Lasse Muscheites. Livi and Nunez Aguilera played the No. 1 doubles spot, falling 6-3.
The No. 2 doubles team of Daniel Skripnik and Adolfo Blanco were tied 4-4 with Yannick Zuern and Jefta Kecic before the Ospreys captured the doubles team point.
In singles play, Livi squared off again against Jack Findel-Hawkins, who is ranked No. 51 in NCAA Division I. Livi dropped the first set but led 5-1 in the second set before the match went unfinished.
The Ospreys bested St. John's at the No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles spots to capture the match victory, 4-0.
The Johnnies open up at home on Feb. 5, with a doubleheader against Binghamton and Stony Brook.
