QUEENS, N.Y. - On Wednesday, the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its 2017 Division I Women's Soccer All-ECAC Teams and senior Jesse Schaefer was named to the Honorable Mention squad.
Schaefer, an All-BIG EAST Second Team and CoSIDA Academic All-District pick this season, was a four-year starter for Head Coach Ian Stone and earned her first career BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honor this year after leading the Red Storm to a 1-0 win over Seton Hall. The Dublin, Ohio, native who missed just one game in her four years, was one of the integral parts of a defensive unit that limited opponents to one goal or less in 15 of the team's 18 games this season.
Schaefer finished her career with the second-most games started in St. John's women's soccer history with 77.
In the classroom, Schaefer posted a 3.88 GPA as a finance major and Spanish minor and was inducted into the 2017 St. John's University President's Society, one of the most prestigious honors a student can earn.
