QUEENS, N.Y. - Following a standout season with Edremit of the TKBL in Turkey, former St. John's women's basketball star Danaejah Grant was named to the Eurobasket.com All-Turkish First Team.
Grant, who joined Edremit at the midway point in the 2016-17 season, played in 20 games and averaged 22.2 points per outing, good enough for second on the team. From the field, Grant hit 118 of her 209 attempts on the year, sinking shots at a 56.5 percent clip. From deep, the 5-9 guard shot 35.5 percent, converting on 39 of her 110 tries. Additionally, Grant averaged 6.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.7 steals in 34.8 minutes per contest.
A two-time All-BIG EAST selection during her time in Queens, Grant was a part of three postseason runs with the Red Storm, including a pair of trips to the NCAA Tournament. In her final collegiate game against Auburn in the First Round of the 2016 NCAA Tournament, Grant scored a game-high 25 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Johnnies, finishing her career with 1,498 total points. Despite playing just three seasons under Head Coach Joe Tartamella, Grant currently ranks ninth on the St. John's all-time scoring list.
As a senior during a memorable 2015-16 season, the Piscataway, N.J., native led the BIG EAST in scoring with 19.6 points per game on the year, the fifth-highest single-season scoring average in St. John's history. In the postseason, Grant proved vital in helping the Red Storm secure its first BIG EAST Championship since 1988. Grant averaged 16.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists over three days in Chicago, highlighted by a 22-point, 10-rebound effort in the Red Storm's come-from-behind semifinal upset over top-seeded DePaul on the Blue Demons' home court. For her efforts, Grant was named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team.
Following her standout senior campaign, Grant became the fourth-ever Johnny selected in the WNBA Draft when the Washington Mystics selected her 31st overall.
