Intrasquad scrimmage to raise money for the 2019 season
QUEENS, N.Y. (Oct. 4, 2018) – St. John's Softball completed their 13th installment of the 100-Out Fundraiser Thursday afternoon at Red Storm Field as Team Red defeats Team Storm 15-14.
"A huge thank you goes out to every donor and supporter, including some of the administrators that came down to our event today." Interim Head Coach Bob Guerriero said.
Team Red consisted of Peyton Cody, Natalie Giroux, Laura Delgado and Marissa Rizzi. Team Storm played Kalei Sorensen, Gretchen Bowie, Christina Melendez, and Gabby Conca. Amelia Ditolvo, Meisha Murray, Anna Freveletti, and Kamryn Tiumalu played on both teams. Pitchers Angela Saric, Madison Murray, and Kayla Kmett also threw on both sides.
The split squad practiced various real-game situations, which is typical of every practice, but wants his players to appreciation what their program offers them.
Coach Guerriero said he wants his players, "to appreciate being a part of a successful program and to realize the value what has been passed down from player to player."
The passing of the torch comes from the annual fundraiser which has helped St. John's Softball acquire a new pitching machine and a V-Flex hitting system. This year, the proceeds will go towards upgrading the team's dugouts and batting cages, as well as their spring break trip to Florida to compete in a high-profiled, early season tournament.
For those who could not make it to the event, donations can be made year round. To donate online, click here. A check made payable to St. John's Softball can also be sent to the address listed below.
