Red Storm to Travel to DePaul and Marquette to Finish Regular Season

St. John’s to play last matches before BIG EAST Tournament the following weekend
The St. John's volleyball team will conclude the 2018 regular season on the road at DePaul and Marquette.

The Red Storm has already clinched a spot in the BIG EAST Championships in Omaha for the first time since 2012 the following weekend and will face off against Marquette again as the three seed playing the second seeded Golden Eagles.

First, the Johnnies head to Chicago to take on DePaul, who enters the weekend on a nine-match losing streak. The Blue Demons fell on the road to Xavier and Butler this past weekend, where Claire Anderson led DePaul with 20 kills in the two matches. The junior ranks second on the team with 177 kills and 2.01 kills per set.

Isabelle Banez leads DePaul with 4.67 digs per set, which ranks fourth in the BIG EAST. This has been the best category for the Blue Demons, where they rank seventh at 14.41 digs per set.

In the first meeting between the two schools, DePaul took the first two sets before the Red Storm mounted a comeback at Carnesecca Arena. The Johnnies would take the next three sets and the match. Efrosini Alexakou led the way for St. John's with 23 kills, while Erica Di Maulo posted a double-double with 60 assists and 18 digs. The Red Storm leads the all-time series 16-5 over DePaul.

Marquette enters the final weekend locked in at the second seed in the BIG EAST after sporting a 24-5 record and 14-2 in the conference. The Golden Eagles lead every offensive category in the league with a .282 team hitting percentage, 13.80 assists per set, and 14.82 kills per set.

The Golden Eagles also boast the BIG EAST Preseason Player of the Year in Allie Barber. She leads the BIG EAST in points per set (4.88) and kills per set (4.65) and also ranks second in hitting percentage with a clip of .363.

In the first meeting Rachele Rastelli posted nine kills and the lone ace for the Red Storm, while Lexie Lobdell finished with eight kills in the three setter.
