Krystal Puga Named To BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

QUEENS, N.Y. -
After breaking the single season home run record in a 2-2 week for St. John's, senior Krystal Puga was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the league announced on Monday.
The Los Angeles native's historic moment came on Sunday against providence when the senior launched a two-run homer to break the single season record at St. John's. Puga extended the newly broken record with a second home run to account for a total 18 long balls over the 2018 campaign, ranking her fourth on the national level.
Over the four-game stretch, Puga posted a .462 clip from the plate, recording a team-best six hits in 13 at bats, including one double. Additionally, the senior drove in three RBIs for the Red Storm and posted a team-best 1.000 slugging percentage.
With 18 roundtrippers on the season, Puga has now recorded a total 42 over her career at St. John's. The senior is just two shy from breaking the all-time career record of 43, currently held by former St. John's shortstop, Erin Burner.
Puga and the St. John's squad return to the diamond at Red Storm Field on Wednesday for a midweek matchup with Fordham. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. on ESPN3.
