St. John's Softball Releases 2018 Fall Schedule

QUEENS, N.Y. (Sept. 21, 2018) – Interim Head Coach Bob Guerriero has announced the fall schedule for the St. John's Softball team, as the Johnnies are set compete in four tournaments across the tri-state area in preparation for their 2019 season.

The Red Storm will open the fall campaign at Columbia on Saturday, Sept. 22, taking on the host-Lions and Fordham in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.

The Johnnies will then host tournaments in consecutive weekends beginning Sept. 29 with the St. John's Fall Invite. The Red Storm will face off against Iona in the day's first game at 9 a.m. before taking on Fairleigh Dickinson at noon. The Gaels and Knights will the cap off the invitational with another contest at 3 p.m.

The Red Storm will remain at home for the St. John's Bash on Oct. 6, taking on Iona and Queens College at Red Storm Field. After Iona and Queens kick off the day's action at 9 a.m., the Johnnies will meet Iona for the second time in as many weeks at noon. St. John's and Queens will then close out the Bash with a 3 p.m. tilt.

After a week off, the fall season will wrap up on Long Island on Oct. 20 when St. John's take on local foes Adelphi and Hofstra at Bill Edwards Stadium. The Red Storm will face the Panthers at 1 p.m. before closing its fall slate with a contest against the Pride.

St John's returns 12 players from a 2018 campaign that saw the team finish with a winning record for the fifth-straight season. Led by reigning BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year Gretchen Bowie, the Johnnies will also welcome several promising newcomers for the 2019 season.
