St. John’s Heads to Milwaukee for Sunday Match with Marquette

Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. ET on BIG EAST Digital Network
After recording its first BIG EAST victory with a 2-1 win over Creighton on Thursday night, the St. John's women's soccer team will look to make it two in a row, traveling to Milwaukee for a Sunday afternoon showdown with Marquette at 2 p.m ET.
The contest will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network, available on FOXSportsGO.com and the FOX Sports Mobile app. Patrick Reed will be on the call with Jenny Fischer reporting from the sideline.
Samie Scaffidi scored her second goal of the 2018 campagin in the Red Storm's 2-1 triumph over the Bluejays, helping St. John's secure its first road win of the season. Lucy Whipp, who assisted on Scaffidi's goal against Creighton, has tallied eight points on the season to sit in a three-way tie for the second most on the team.
Kayla Mesaros has had a solid rookie season so far, recording minutes in all 11 matches this year. The Royersford, Pa., native helped the Johnnies tally their second goal on Thursday evening as the freshman forward rocketed a ball toward the sky to throw off Creighton's defenders and cause an own goal to extend the Red Storm's lead.
St. John's goalkeeper Meredith Reinhardt had a stellar performance in Thursday's contest as she picked up her fourth win of the year. The Scottsdale, Ariz., native tied a season-high with six saves against the Bluejays, for a total 36 on the year. With the win over Creighton, Reinhardt improved her record to 4-4-0 on the 2018 campaign.
Marquette enters Sunday's contest with an overall record of 2-8-1 after dropping both conference games for a 0-2 record in league play thus far. In their most recent contest on Thursday, the Golden Eagles fell to Villanova, 3-2, despite goals from freshmen Alyssa Bombacino and Katrina Wetherell.
As a rookie, Wetherell now leads the Golden Eagles on the year with five points, while Bombacino is tied with redshirt senior Carrie Madden for the team lead with two goals.
St. John's and Marquette will meet for the 16th time in the history of the two programs on Sunday with Marquette winning last year's contest, 1-0, in Queens.
