The St. John's women's golf team opened play at the Towson Invitational with a 297 (+9) total on Monday to hold an eight-stroke lead at Eagle's Nest Country Club in Phoenix, Md.
Linda Wang is alone in the lead after firing a three-under 69 in the first round of action. The senior dominated day one, draining a tournament-best five birdies through 18 holes. The Fresh Meadows, N.Y., native was a bogey-free four-under through 14 before her only two miscues came on holes three and four. Wang bounced back from a pair of bogeys, closing out the day with a birdie on the par-three sixth hole to maintain a four-shot lead.
