Jack Simon leads the way for the Red Storm after 18 holes
The St. John's men's golf team posted a combined score of 315 during the opening round of the Lehigh Invitational on Friday to stand in a tie for eighth place after day one.
Sophomore Jack Simon paced the field for the Red Storm, signing off on a 74 to sit in a tie for fourth place. The Sparta, N.J., native's first-round effort was highlighted by a pair of birdies on the fifth and 14th holes.
Classmate Tyler Gerbavsits sits three strokes back of Simon. The Huntington, N.Y., native drained a pair of birdies on the back nine for a score of 77.
Alex Kyriacou fired an 81, while Gage Wolfle carded an 83 on the first day of the Lehigh Invitational.
Ryan Rittberger rounded out scoring for the five-man lineup, recording a first-round 84.
Competing as an individual, Joseph Busiello shot an 89 over the opening 18 holes.
Rider paces the field with combined 298 (+10). Leading the individuals is Harrison Thayer of Holy Cross, who carded a three-under 69 on the day.
