Kajan joins Hungarian National Team for Cyprus Women’s Cup
Coming off of a stellar fall campaign, sophomore forward Zsani Kajan was recalled by the Hungarian National Team and is currently participating in the 2019 Cyprus Women's Cup.
Following back-to-back setbacks to both Thailand and Italy, the Hungarian Women's National Team earned its first point on Monday, playing Mexico to a 3-3 draw at the AEK Arena in Larnaca, Cyprus.
The 5-foot-7 forward and her squad will look to capture their first victory of the Cyprus Women's Cup against Slovakia on Wednesday to lock down an 11th-place finish.
Kajan has been no stranger to the Hungarian National Team, earning her first cap in 2013 at the age of 16.
Kajan finished the 2018 campaign as the Red Storm's leading scorer, recording 11 goals in 19 starts. The Budapest native also dished out a pair of assists for a team-high 24 points. With 11 tallies on the year, Kajan tied for the second most in the conference and ranked inside the top-30 on the national level at the conclusion of the regular season.
In addition, Kajan's double-digit scoring made her just the seventh Johnnie in program history to record 10 or more goals in a single season.
For her efforts over the 2018 season, Kajan garnered a slew of postseason accolades including a spot on the All-BIG EAST First Team. The Hungarian native also earned a spot on the United Soccer Coaches Division I All-East Region Third Team, as well as the Top Drawer Soccer Postseason Top-20 Conference Rankings list.
