St. John’s Sweeps its Doubleheader over Providence and Bryant

The Red Storm finished the regular season with a 12-6 record
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The St. John's women's tennis team won both of its matches on the road on Saturday, outdueling the Providence Friars, 6-1, and blanking the Bryant Bulldogs, 6-0.
St. John's 6, Providence 1
The Red Storm started the contest on a positive note, winning the No. 1 & No. 3 doubles contests to secure the doubles point.
In the No. 1 match, Jessica Livianu and Najah Dawson dominated Risa Takenaka and Aidan Epstein, taking the match, 6-1. Delia Arranz and Gabriela Tenorio clinched the doubles point for the Johnnies, defeating Natalie Pitocco and Grace Goyette, 6-3, on the No. 3 court.
The Red Storm kicked off singles play with a win in the No. 4 match as Dawson made quick work of Mimi Dailey, 6-1, 6-0. Livianu continued the momentum in the No. 2 contest, as she knocked off Takenaka in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1.
The Johnnies were able to continue their success through the No. 5 and No. 3 matches, giving themselves a 4-0 lead. Arranz defeated Pitocco in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1. While, Garibal dominated against Epstein in straight-sets, 6-0, 6-2.
The Johnnies earned their final point of the contest in match No. 2 as Inclan Solis bested Haley Gurski, 6-3, 6-1. The Friars were able to secure their lone point of the contest as Sera Satkowski defeated Jenelle Downer in the No. 6 match, 6-1, 7-6.
The No. 2 doubles match that featured Olaya Inclan Solis and Oceane Garibal went unfinished.
St. John's 6, Bryant 0
The Red Storm continued their winning ways, closing out their regular season with their second win of the double header over Bryant, 6-0.
The latter match of the doubleheader only featured singles matches. The Red Storm began with a dominant win in the No. 1 bout as Jessica Livianu dominated Ada Boru, 6-3, 6-0, to secure the first point of the match.
Olaya Inclan Solis kept the ball rolling to secure the second point in the No. 2 contest as she bested Arianna Oropeza 7-6, 6-1.
In the No. 3 match, Oceane Garibal secured a quick win over Sarah Hickey, 6-3, 6-2. Garibal's win was followed up by a Najah Dawson victory over Aleski Gottlieb on the No. 4 court, 6-3, 6-2.
The No. 5 match was the closest match of the contes as Leanne Kendall, forced a three-set bout against Delia Arranz. Arranz was able to secure the point for her team, winning a thrilling three-set match, 6-2, 3-6, 10-8 victory.
In the No. 6 contest, Gabriela Tenorio was able to solidify the sweep and capture the sixth point of the match as she bested Gabrielle Bergeron, 6-1, 6-4.
The Red Storm will take the court again on Thursday April 18th, as they begin post-season play in the BIG EAST Championships, in Cayce, S.C.
