Lologo joined Angela Saric and Peyton Cody as the third freshman to earn a weekly award
QUEENS, N.Y. (April 22, 2019) – Coming off of a multi-homer performance against DePaul, freshman Kaitlyn Lologo has been named to her first career BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, it was announced by the league on Monday morning.
The Johnnies' rookie joins fellow freshmen Peyton Cody and Angela Saric as the only first-year players this season to earn recognition by the conference.
Lologo had a strong opening game against DePaul, knocking in the eventual game-winning run on a single up the middle in the Red Storm's 5-1 victory. In the following contest, the Irvine, Calif., native continued to drive in runs, smacking two dingers off of BIG EAST wins leader Natalie Halvorson. Lologo pulled St. John's to within one on both occasions, sending a two-run shot over the fence in the fifth inning, followed by a solo homer in the final frame.
The Red Storm remains atop the BIG EAST standings with an 11-2 conference record after its doubleheader split of the Blue Demons last week.
The Johnnies return to action on Wednesday, April 24, heading to New Rochelle for a matchup with Iona beginning at 3 p.m.
