QUEENS, N.Y. (May 23, 2019) – Following the best season of her career, junior Marissa Rizzi has been named to the All-ECAC Second Team announced by the organization on Thursday.
The New York native becomes the first softball player in program history to earn a spot on the All-ECAC Second Team. She joins St. John's powerhouses Krystal Puga (2018) and Erin Burner (2015) as the only Johnnies to be recognized by the organization in its postseason awards.
Leading the charge offensively in her third season, the Johnnies' first baseman boasted a .403 batting average, 56 hits, including 12 home runs, and a .755 slugging percentage. She also added 42 runs scored and 34 RBIs to her final stat line.
Rizzi has now garnered her second postseason award to wrap up her junior campaign while earning four weekly accolades. Including her All-BIG EAST First Team selection, she was also named both conference Player of the Week and to the league's Weekly Honor Roll on two occasions.
On top of her individual accomplishments, Rizzi helped St. John's to its third regular season championship while assisting in the team's sixth-straight appearance to the BIG EAST Tournament.
