Lucy Whipp Signs Professional Contract with BCFC

Whipp will continue her soccer career in Birmingham, England
Following four seasons playing for the St. John's women's soccer team, Lucy Whipp will continue her career with BCFC Birmingham in England.
Over her four years with the Johnnies, Whipp recorded a combined nine goals and 12 assists for a total 30 points in 77 games.
"Everyone that has been associated with Lucy Whipp at St. John's is ecstatic for her," head coach Ian Stone said. "Over her four years, Lucy regularly sacrificed her own statistics for the good of the team. She took on many roles and led by example throughout her time with us. We all wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors."
Whipp is coming off of a tremendous senior season, helping the Johnnies reach the first round of the BIG EAST Tournament for the 15th time in program history. The Ormskirk, England, native started in all 19 matches for the Red Storm, recording a career-high four goals over her senior campaign. Whipp also tallied a pair of assists for 10 total points last season.
As a junior, Whipp started in all 18 games for St. John's, leading the squad with five assists to rank fifth overall in the BIG EAST. During her sophomore campaign, Whipp played in all 20 games, making 10 starts at forward for the Red Storm. That year, she registered two goals and an assist for a total five points.
Whipp burst onto the scene as a freshman in 2015, playing in all 20 games and making 19 starts. The former St. John's forward registered a pair of goals and four assists during her first year to earn a spot on the BIG EAST All-Rookie Team.
Whipp joins a highly touted team in BCFC. The Blues Women won their first FA Women's Cup in 2012, beating Chelsea on penalties in the final. That same year, the squad finished second in the FA WSL Cup and were runners-up in the Continental Cup Final. The second place finish in the league qualified Birmingham for the 2013–14 UEFA Women's Champions League round of 32.The Blues Women reached the FA Women's Cup final again in 2017 for their second appearance in five years.
