St. John’s Completes Play at the Princeton Invitational

Kaitleen Shee paced the Johnnies with a one-over 145 en route to a top-10 finish
PRINCETON, N.J. (Sept. 29, 2019) – The St. John's women's golf team wrapped up play at the Princeton Invitational, posting a sixth place finish with a total score of 608 at the Springdale Golf Course on Sunday.
BIG EAST foe Seton Hall secured the team title with a one-under 575, seven strokes ahead of second place University of Pennsylvania. Ami Gianchandani of Yale held on for the individual lead with a combined score of six-under 138.
After shooting an even-par in the opening round, sophomore Kaitleen Shee completed her best tournament of the season, registering a one-over 145 to stand in a tie for eighth place. The Irvine, Calif., native matched her birdie total of four from round one, two of which came in her bogey-free front nine on Sunday.
Checking in just behind Shee was Linda Wang who also shot a one-over 73 on Sunday. The senior concluded the invitational by earning a 13th place finish while nailing a trio of birdies through the first 10 frames.
Newcomer Cloe Clocchiatti earned a seven-over 151 in her two days of competition. Her tie of 23rd place is the highest finish of her season and of her young career. The Italy product also sank a six birdies in 36 holes while at Springdale.
Jessie Kweon put forth a strong performance in the final round, shooting a two-over 74. Her showing on Sunday was highlighted by an eagle on the par-five third hole and included back-to-back birdies on the 12th and 13th holes.
Freshman Jill Beglin and junior Andrea Sanchez finished their afternoons with matching 78's. Beglin wrapped up her weekend in a tie for 42nd with a two-round total of 154, followed by Sanchez in 47th at 155.
Laia Barro rounded out the Red Storm leaderboard with a trio of birdies on the final day of play, including one on the par-five 17th hole.
The Red Storm will return to action in two weeks when the team heads to Maryland for the Towson Invitational at the Eagle's Nest Country Club on Oct. 14-15.
