Jessica Livianu picks up the lone victory for the Red Storm on the No. 1 court in singles play

YaleNEW HAVEN, Conn. (Jan. 18, 2020) – In its first match of the spring season, the St. John's women's tennis team fell to Yale, 6-1, in New Haven, Conn.

In doubles action, Yale gained the first point of the afternoon after securing comfortable victories in all three of their bouts. Yale's Samantha Shrivastava/Caroline Dunleavy defeated Willa Bay Breunich/Najah Dawson, 6-1, on the No. 3 court, while both the duos of Jessica Livianu/Milka Genkova and Camila Ordonez/Oceane Garibal fell in the No. 1 and No. 2 contests, 6-3.

Yale won singles matches at the No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 positions to secure a victory over the Johnnies.

Jessica Livianu secured the lone victory for the Red Storm on the No. 1 court in singles play, fending off Samantha Martinelli's, 7-5, 6-2.

St. John's returns to action on next Friday, Jan. 24, as they host Fairfield at the USTA National Tennis Center at 1 p.m.
