California Native Inks National Letter of Intent
St. John's Head Softball Coach Bob Guerriero announced the signing of Anese Thompson to a National Letter of Intent on Thursday.
"Anese will be such an awesome addition to the Red Storm softball program," said Guerriero. "Anese will bring power to the plate and split time between catching and first base. She is a super competitor and will do whatever she needs to do to become a big time contributor at the Division I level. Anese is a strong leader on the field and will be an immediate presence in our lineup."
Thompson will head to Queens after her senior season as a member of the Buena High School Bulldogs. Splitting time between catcher and corner infield spots, Thompson has sustained a .344 batting average over her high school career to go along with three home runs, 16 RBI's, and an on base percentage of .396.
The Red Storm's newest addition has earned All Pacific League Second Team honors to go along with an All Channel League Honorable Mention during her high school career. In addition to softball, Thompson has also played basketball and tennis while boasting a 4.5 GPA.
"It seems like this day has been a long time coming and I know we're all elated that the wait is officially over," added Guerriero. "Welcome to New York and congratulations on your NLI day, Anese!"
