Johnnies kick off spring slate at Benbow Invitational March 9-10
Coming off a stellar fall slate that saw the St. John's women's golf team turn in a pair of top-five finishes, Head Coach Ambry Bishop has announced the 2020 spring schedule that includes four regular season tournaments.
Â
Visiting the Jacksonville Beach Golf Course for the first time since the 2017-18 campaign, the Johnnies will open their spring season March 9-10 at the Benbow Invitational. Winning the event in its last time around, the Red Storm will look to claim its second title in three years at the tournament hosted by BIG EAST foe Butler. Senior Linda Wang led the way for the Johnnies during the team's last trip to the tournament, capitalizing in three-hole playoff to separate herself from the pack and emerge victorious.
Â
For the second-straight campaign, the Johnnies will take part in the Pinehurst Women's Intercollegiate in Pinehurst, N.C., from March 30-31. St. John's will look to Wang to improve upon her third-place finish from a season ago.
Â
The Red Storm will continue action with a trip to Milford, Conn., for the Sacred Heart Spring Invitational from April 5-6. The Red Storm saw success at this event in 2018, as Andrea Sanchez signed off on a 149 (+5) to claim medalist honors and help the Johnnies to a team title.
Â
The Red Storm will close out the regular season at the Indiana Invitational on April 18-19. The April matchup at the PFAU Course at Indiana marks the first time the Johnnies will compete in this event since 2005.
St. John's will wrap up the year with a trip to Okatie, S.C. for the 2020 BIG EAST Championship at Callawassie Island Golf Club from April 24-25.
