Erin Brown Selected to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

The Johnnies’ freshman earns first weekly selection of her career
QUEENS, N.Y. (March 2, 2020) – Freshman Erin Brown of the St. John's softball team has garnered her first BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll selection following a stellar weekend at the San Diego Classic, it was announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.
The Thousand Oaks, Calif., native dominated in the circle for the Red Storm, bolstering wins over Long Beach State and Mount St. Mary's in her first collegiate starts on the West Coast. Brown tossed a pair of complete-game, four-hit shutouts while striking out a combined nine batters and posting a 2.19 ERA.
In the team's 2-0 victory over Long Beach State, the Johnnies' ace kept the Beach at bay on 87 pitches to secure her first career complete game shutout. She also forced 15 groundouts, including two double plays, and struck out two batters in the opening contest.
The Red Storm's rookie closed out the weekend the same way she started, buckling the Mountaineers with seven punchouts and 11 groundouts in 99 pitches to secure her second win of the weekend, 7-0.
Brown and St. John's will return to action on Tuesday when the team heads to Los Angeles to take on nationally-ranked UCLA and Michigan at Easton Stadium.
