Madsen’s 23 goals through six games leads the BIG EAST
QUEENS, N.Y. (March 9, 2020) – St. John's senior Mike Madsen has been named BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week for the second time this season following a career-best, six-goal performance in the Red Storm's 16-9 triumph over Siena at DaSilva Memorial Field on Saturday afternoon.

In Saturday's home victory over Siena, the midfielder finished with seven points which equaled his career-high set on Feb. 15, 2019, in a 15-13 win over Hartford. Madsen's also set a new career high with six goals against the Saints, marking the third time this season the senior has scored five or more tallies in a single game.

The Locust Valley, N.Y., native has been unstoppable in the first six games of his final collegiate season, firing a BIG EAST-high 23 goals through Saturday. Madsen's six man-up goals also rank atop the conference while his 12.3 shots per game and 26 points rank second and third in the BIG EAST, respectively.

Madsen and the Red Storm return to action on Tuesday, March 10, as St. John's will host local rival Hofstra at DaSilva Memorial Field at 3 p.m.
