St. John’s Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

Leah Anderson, Brianna Burkley and Avon Samuels each received USTFCCCA All-Academic honors
QUEENS, N.Y. (Jul. 16, 2020) – The St. John's track & field team received national recognition for their excellence in the classroom on Thursday, earning the United States Track & Field Cross Country Association's (USTFCCCA) Division I All-Academic Team honors for the 11th time since 2007.
As a collective group, the Johnnies posted a 3.50 cumulative GPA and were one of 264 different programs recognized for having a 3.0 Team GPA or better.
"We are so proud of our student-athletes for receiving academic awards from the USTFCCCA and appreciate all their hard work in both the classroom and track & field," Head Coach Jim Hurt said. "Their dedication to purpose has allowed them to achieve at the highest level. We have a great academic support group and our coaching staff has been great prioritizing academics. Congratulations to Leah, Avon and Brianna on their individual awards and to our entire team."
Leah Anderson, Brianna Burkley and Avon Samuels led the way for the Red Storm with each athlete receiving individual USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.
All-Academic selections were required to have a minimum GPA of 3.25 for the 2019-20 school year and to have finished the season ranked in the top 96 for any individual championship event or in the top 48 in any championship relay event.
