Scaffidi Signs with Boavista FC

Former Johnnie continues professional career in Portugal
Former St. John's women's soccer standout Samie Scaffidi will continue her professional career with Portugal's Boavista FC.

Boavista FC, located in Porto, Portugal, competes in the Campeonato Nacional Feminino, also known as Liga BPI - the top tier of women's professional soccer in Portugal.

"I'm excited to get back on the field and play for another great team," Scaffidi said.
Â
Following her collegiate career at St. John's, Scaffidi spent over a year playing for Football Femminile Lugano. The Swiss women's football team plays in the National League A, the highest division of the Swiss championship.

Scaffidi had a steady presence throughout her career with the Red Storm. She started 41 of the 63 games she played in at St. John's, logging seven goals and 11 assists for a total 25 points. Scaffidi led the team in scoring as a sophomore, netting four goals for St. John's.

The Silver Spring, Md., native was a key component to the Johnnies' success over her four seasons, as she helped the program to a combined 43 wins.
