Men’s Golf Concludes Play at Columbia Autumn Invitational

Chen and Gerbavsits earn top-20 finishes
The St. John's men's golf team completed play at the Columbia Autumn Invitational on Monday, placing seventh overall in the standings.
St. John's freshman Peicheng Chen led the way for the Red Storm, signing off on a 72 and 73 to finish in a tie for 15th place. Chen drained a team-high eight birdies over 36 holes, with five of them coming in round one.
Senior Tyler Gerbavsits also turned in a top-20 finish. The Huntington, N.Y., native shot a team-best 71 in the opening round before closing out the day with a 75 over the final 18 holes. Gerbavsits' first-round effort was highlighted by four birdies.
Classmate Jack Simon finished six-shots back of Gerbavsits, carding a 75 and 77 on the afternoon.
Senior Joseph Busiello and junior Gage Wolfle rounded out scoring for the Red Storm lineup, shooting a 156 and 157, respectively.
Kevin Sze of Havard claimed medalist honors, shooting a two-round 9-under 135 to sit two-strokes clear of teammate Brian Ma. Harvard earned the team title posting an 18-under 558 on the afternoon.
The Johnnies will return to action on Oct. 25-26, as the team competes in the Nassau Intercollegiate hosted by LIU.
