Women’s Golf in Fifth After First Round of St. John’s Invitational

Kim leads the Johnnies following first 18 holes
Through 18 holes at the St. John's Invitational, redshirt freshman Amy Kim leads the way for the Red Storm, shooting a first-round 76 at Saint Andrew's Golf Club on Monday.
As a team, the Red Storm recorded a combined score of 308 to sit fifth overall in the standings.
Graduate student Andrea Sanchez and junior Cloe Clocchiatti sit one-stroke back of Kim, both turning in a 77 to tie for 21st place. Clocchiatti drained a team-high five birdies on the afternoon.
Sophomore Angelica Kusnowo fired off three-straight birdies on holes six, seven and eight before closing out play with a score of 78 to place in the top-half of the standings.
Freshman Karen Beglin, who was competing as an individual, shot an 80 across 18 holes.
Senior Jessie Kweon rounded out scoring for the Red Storm, shooting a first-round 83.
Quinnipiac leads the way, shooting a 286 on the day to sit 14-strokes ahead of second place UAlbany. Individually, Quinnipiac's Aimee Uchida and Kaylee Sakoda are tied for first, both shooting a 2-under 69 on the afternoon.
The Red Storm returns to the course tomorrow morning, as the golfers tee off at 9:30 a.m. for the final round of action.
