Glancy, Murphy Earn BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll Spots

Duo helped lead St. John’s to season-opening sweep of UMass Lowell

After helping the Red Storm secure a season-opening sweep of UMass Lowell this past weekend in Queens, David Glancy and Ian Murphy have been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, it was announced this afternoon by the league office.

Glancy hit .500 on the weekend, going 5-for-10 with two homers and six RBIs. He also walked twice to reach base at a .583 clip and scored three times. After going 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in the series opener, Glancy went 2-for-4 with a single and a three-run homer in game two. The redshirt freshman from Neptune, N.J., added the game-winning roundtripper on Sunday, breaking a 1-1 deadlock in the fifth with a two-run bomb. St. John's would go on to win the game 3-1. In five career games at Jack Kaiser Stadium, Glancy has left the yard four times.

Murphy, who was also named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after opening weekend last season, was sensational in his 2021 debut. The Swedesboro, N.J., native surrendered just one hit and one walk over 6.0 scoreless frames on Saturday while striking out eight, one shy of his career high. On the weekend, the Red Storm pitching staff allowed just three earned runs.
