Junior tallied two assists in Wednesday win over Connecticut
Junior midfielder Anthony Herbert has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, it was announced on Monday afternoon the league office.
During the Red Storm's 2-0 win over UConn on Wednesday night at Belson Stadium, Herbert picked up the primary assist on both of the Red Storm's goals. In the 20th minute, the Brooklyn native made a tremendous individual effort to get free before sending a cross into the box to Tani Oluwaseyi, who headed it home for the game winner. In the second half, Herbert delivered a brilliant cross-field pass to Jared Juleau, who buried it into the back of the net from 15 yards out for his first of the year.
After making his second start of the season against UConn, Herbert appeared in the starting XI and played 66 minutes in the Red Storm's 1-0 overtime loss to Villanova on Saturday night.
Herbert transferred to St. John's after spending two years at Fairleigh Dickinson, where he twice earned Second Team All-NEC honors and helped the Knights secure a conference championship in 2019.
In addition to his collegiate success, Herbert also has plenty of experience on the international stage, having played for Trinidad and Tobago at the U15, U17 and U20 levels.
Herbert and the Red Storm will return to action on Wednesday, heading to Providence for a 3 p.m. contest against the Friars.
