Men’s Golf Wraps Up Round Two at the Connecticut Cup

Junior Jack Simon leads the Red Storm after the first two rounds
The St. John's men's golf team wrapped up its second day of action at the Connecticut Cup on Friday.
As a team, St. John's turned in a combined score of 309 on the day, ranking seventh overall in the field. Boston College leads the event through the first 36 holes, turning in scores of 293-291.
For the Red Storm, junior Jack Simon leads the way, sitting 16th overall with scores of 74 and 76. Simon's second-round effort was highlighted by a pair of birdies on the par-3 seventh and par-5 11th holes.
Sophomore Alex Kyriacou finished three strokes back of Simon, turning in scores of 75 and 78 to tie for 23rd after the first two rounds. Junior Tyler Gerbavsits followed Kyriacou, signing off on an 83 on the day for a combined score of 73-83=156.
Junior Joseph Busiello (84-76) and sophomore Ryan Rittberger (81-79) are both boasting two-round scores of 160.
Freshman Doug Beney, who is competing as an individual, jumped 10 spots in the standings today, carding a 76 on the afternoon to sit inside the top-25.
