Red Storm junior honored by the conference for the fourth time in her career
QUEENS, N.Y. – St. John's junior Peyton Cody was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the fourth time in her career, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.
Cody went 4-6 (.667) for the Red Storm in two nonconference games against Stony Brook and Delaware to close out the 2021 season. The junior slugger tallied a home run, double and two singles in those two contests.
Last Tuesday against the Seawolves in the team's final home game, Cody led off the second inning by smashing her fifth home run of the season, tied for the best mark on the team, to left-center field. She followed that up with singles in each of her next two at bats, finishing off a 3-4 afternoon against Stony Brook.
In Saturday's contest at Delaware, the Red Storm junior picked up where she left off on Tuesday, clubbing a double into the left-center field gap to lead off the second yet again.
Cody caps off her third season in Queens ranking fourth on the team in batting average at .309 while leading the way in RBIs with 21 on the year. The Johnnies catcher and outfielder also added seven doubles on the season to go along with her five homers. The former BIG EAST Co-Freshman of the Year slugged .564 on the season with an on base percentage of .327.
Cody joins teammates Gretchen Bowie, Erin Brown, Kaitlin Mattera and Marissa Rizzi as members of the Red Storm who have been honored by the BIG EAST in 2021.
