QUEENS, N.Y. – Following the successful launch of the line in the summer of 2020, the St. John's Athletic Department has announced that it will begin selling additional "St. John's Tough" gear for a limited time beginning today through October 6.
Just over a year ago, the sale of the limited edition red Nike "St. John's Tough" t-shirts generated more than $14,000 for St. John's Bread & Life, the University-sponsored soup kitchen in Brooklyn, at a time when food pantries and other supports services were stretched thinner than ever.
This fall, St. John's will release a white, long-sleeve edition of the "St. John's Tough" Nike t-shirt in addition to an Acrux Tumbler bearing the logo. This year's release will generate funds for the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation.
St. John's Athletics and the PCRF have teamed up for a decade, as the Red Storm's annual Dribble for The Cure event has generated more than $800,000 to support the foundation's critical work since 2011. This year, the event, which has be rebranded to Dribble for Victory over Cancer in partnership with The V Foundation, will be held on Sept. 25 at the Queens campus.
