QUEENS, N.Y. – Entering his first season as the head coach of the St. John's Cross Country program, St. John's head coach Elliott Blount has announced the schedule for the 2021 campaign.
The Red Storm's slate includes six meets outside of the NCAA Regional and Championship events. Two of the races will be held at Van Cortlandt Park, including Fordham Fiasco on Saturday, Sept. 11 to kick off the season.
Coach Blount's squad will race in the Rams' home event to start the season for the fourth time in the past six years. In 2018, the Red Storm finished fifth as a team.
St. John's will then have two weeks off before heading north for the Jasper Invite on Sept. 25 in Montgomery, N.Y. This will be the Red Storm's first time competing at this event.
The Johnnies will return to the Bronx for the Metropolitan Championship on Oct. 8. Three Johnnies will look to improve upon their times from 2019. Junior Claire Cushing paced the returning Johnnies, crossing the finish line in 16th place with a time of 19:41.2.
The following week, St. John's will then travel to nearby New Jersey for the Princeton Invitational on Oct. 16.
