Nielsen and de Lucas tally a win in doubles
COLLEGE PARK, Md. (Feb. 12, 2022)- The St. John's women's tennis team fell on the wrong side of a 4-0 decision at Maryland on Saturday afternoon.
The exemplary pair of Jayden Nielsen and Yesica de Lucas grabbed a win over the Terrapins' top duo of Jojo Bach and Marta Perez Mur, 7-5. Maryland went on to secure the doubles point after winning the other two matches in College Park, Md.
In singles competition, the Terrapins recorded three victories in straight sets to claim the 4-0 decision.
The Red Storm now hold a 3-2 overall record on the year. Next on tap is a home doubleheader on Friday. The Johnnies welcome Fairleigh Dickinson and Wagner for a pair of contests inside the friendly confines of the USTA National Tennis Center. First serve against FDU is scheduled for 8:30 a.m.
