Men’s golf completes first tournament of the spring season
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The St. John's men's golf team finished fourth at the BIG EAST Match Play Championship following a 4-0-2 loss to Creighton at Bear Lakes Country Club on Tuesday.
"We played well both days with a lot of close matches coming down to the last few holes," said Head Coach Mal Galletta. "It was a great start to the spring and gives us something to build on."
After finishing in a tie during both of his contests on Monday, Tyler Gerbavsits once again tied his opponent, winning the final hole to earn 0.5 points for the Red Storm. Doug Beney earned the second tie for the Johnnies, also winning the final hole to come away with the 0.5 points for the St. John's squad.
The Red Storm will be back in action when the team heads to the Ross Intercollegiate, beginning on March 7. The two-day event will take place at Mid Pines Golf Club in Pinehurst, N.C.
