St. John’s Readies for Pair of Matches

Johnnies will host Fordham on Saturday and face Cornell on Sunday
QUEENS, N.Y.- The St. John's men's tennis team readies for a pair of matches this week. On Saturday, the Red Storm will welcome Fordham before traveling to no. 59 Cornell on Sunday.
The Johnnies will play its first on-campus match of 2022 when it welcomes the Rams for an 11 a.m. The following day it will travel to Ithaca, N.Y. for a 3:30 contest with the Big Red.
In its last time out, the Red Storm were setback at no. 36 Princeton, 6-1, on Saturday, snapping a five-match winning streak. Axel Vila Antuna and Ignacio Garcia recorded a win over the Tigers top pair, 6-2. Giuseppe De Camelis grabbed the lone singles victory against Bill Duo.
For the third consecutive week, Vila Antuna and Garcia were tabbed BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday. The duo has posted a 11-1 record as a pairing this year.
This weekend's matches mark a stretch of four contests over the course of six days.
