Leah Anderson Named BIG EAST Track Athlete of the Week

The senior earned second place in the 200m and 400m at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational

QUEENS, N.Y.- After two second-place finishes at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational in Coral Gables, Fla., over the weekend, senior sprinter Leah Anderson was BIG EAST Women's Track Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.

In the 200-meter dash, Anderson posted a time of 23.71 which gave her second place and the 86^th fastest time in the event nationally. The Mount Vernon, N.Y., native also posted the 14^th best result in the nation in the 400-meter dash, finishing with a time of 52.74. Both marks rank in the top 10 in the all-time program record book for the outdoor season.

Anderson was also part of the 4x100-meter relay team that posted the 55^th quickest time in the country at 45.14.

This marks the sprinter's first BIG EAST weekly award of the outdoor season and second of the 2021-22 track campaign after being named the conference's athlete of the week on Feb. 2.
