Vila Antuna and Garcia Earn Fourth BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week Honor

The Red Storm pair wins the award for the fourth time in five weeks
QUEENS, N.Y.– For the fourth time in five weeks, St. John's men's tennis standouts Ignacio Garcia and Axel Vila Antuna were named BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
In their BIG EAST match against Marquette, the pair posted a 6-2 victory over Fran San Andres and Rami Scheetz, 6-2. The victory proved helped catapult the Red Storm to a narrow 4-3 victory over the Golden Eagles and its 14th win of the season.
The duo has posted a team-high 11 doubles wins all coming on the no. 1 court. Vila Antuna and Garcia were ranked high as no. 58 in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Feb. 23.
Following its final two regular season matches, the Johnnies will aim to capture the BIG EAST crown when it competes at the conference championships in Cayce, S.C. on April 21-24.
