Anese Thompson Named To BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

Thompson batted .375 over four games for the Red Storm

QUEENS, N.Y. (April 18, 2022) St. John's softball freshman Anese Thompson has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, it was announced on Monday by the league office.

Thompson was a crucial component in the Red Storm's offense during its 1-3 week. The Ventura, Calif. native batted. 375 (3-for-8) with a homer, an RBI and a stolen base.

The two-out dinger over the left field fence put the Red Storm on the board first in the series finale against DePaul. Sunday's game with the Blue Demons was televised on CBS Sports Network.

Thompson currently leads the team in home runs (3) and ranks second on the team in slugging percentage (.326), RBIs (11) and total bases (30).

Thompson is the second Red Storm rookie to receive the honor. Teammate London Jarrard was tabbed to the conference's weekly honor roll on April 4.

St. John's will take on Iona in a midweek match-up on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Red Storm Field.
