QUEENS, N.Y. – St. Johns' graduate student Brandon Knapp has been recognized as one of the most promising talents in USL League Two, checking in at no. 14 in the league's ranking of its top 50 prospects.
Knapp has played one game so far this season for Christos FC, logging the full 90 minutes in a 3-1 win over Northern Virginia FC on Saturday. Christos is scheduled to play tonight against Commonwealth Cardinals FC at Moose Athletic Complex in Glen Burnie, Md.
This past season at St. John's, Knapp led the Johnnies in both scoring (5) and assists (6), helping the Red Storm finish with a record of 11-6-3 and earn the 22nd NCAA Tournament berth in program history. Knapp garnered selection to the All-BIG EAST First Team, as the Johnnies placed third in the final conference standings with a league mark of 5-3-2. The four-year team captain also found a place on the United Soccer Coaches All-Region Third Team.
A versatile talent, Knapp also played a key role in the Red Storm's defensive efforts, helping the team pitch 12 shutouts and finish with 0.63 goals against average, the latter of which was good enough for fifth in the nation.
An All-BIG EAST pick in each of his last three seasons, Knapp logged 90 minutes or more in 17 of his 20 appearances this past fall.
