Amy Marron Promoted to Associate Head Coach

Ian Stone names longtime Johnnie as the first-ever Associate Head Coach
QUEENS, N.Y.– St. John's Women's Soccer Head Coach Ian Stone named Amy Marron as the program's first-ever associate head coach on Thursday.
"It is very fitting that Amy Marron should become the first associate head coach in our program's history," said Stone. "Amy has lived and breathed St. John's Women's Soccer since the first day she put on her St. John's uniform. She was an integral part of our team's wonderful success last year. She works diligently on a year-round basis and has been consistently effective both on and off the field for us."
Marron has been a staple in the women's soccer program since becoming a Johnnie in 2010. A three-time BIG EAST honoree during her playing days, Marron was an integral part of the 2013 squad that advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament. That season, Marron led the team in assists (7) while finishing second in goals (4) and points (15). During her playing days in the Red and White, Marron appeared in 70 games, starting all but one, tallying eight goals, 11 assists, 27 points and 121 shots.
Following a professional career with one of Iceland's top clubs, Afturleding, Marron returned to her alma mater as a volunteer assistant coach in 2014. The following year she was elevated to a graduate assistant, Marron played a crucial role during the Johnnies' record-breaking 2015 campaign as she helped guide the Red Storm to a school record 15 wins and the first BIG EAST Regular Season title in program history.
In 2016, Marron spent a season as the head coach for SUNY Purchase. Her team went 5-10-2, posting a conference record of 4-4-1 at the Division III level. Under her tutelage, Amanda Green was named an All-Skyline performer, having netted eight goals and logging ten helpers got a total of 26 points.
Marron rejoined the Johnnies' staff as assistant coach prior to the 2017 season, and in 2018, helped guide the team to the BIG EAST Tournament. Marron coached Zsani Kajan to earn All-BIG EAST First Team honors in 2018 and 2019 and Christina Bellero and Claudia Cagnina to the All-BIG EAST Second Team in 2018. During an unconventional campaign in the spring of 2021, Jessica Garziano was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team while Ava Collins earned recognition on the all-rookie team.
In 2021, Marron saw St. John's women's soccer reach new heights as the team advanced to the NCAA Tournament Round of 16 for the first time in program history. Under Marron's tutelage, Kajan was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year for the second time in her career, was tabbed to the United Soccer Coaches All-America Second Team and became the second player in program history to be selected in the NWSL draft, going eighth overall to OL Reign.
Marron and the Red Storm will officially begin the 2022 campaign on Aug. 18 when the team hosts Saint Joseph's in the season opener at Belson Stadium at 7 p.m.
