Red Storm to battle Blue Devils at 2 p.m. on FloSports
QUEENS, N.Y. - The St. John's women's soccer team takes on Central Connecticut State at Belson Stadium on Monday afternoon. Kick-off is slated for 2 p.m. and will be broadcast on FloSports.

The Red Storm earned its first shutout of the year on Friday when the team topped Navy, 2-0. Gina Muzi improved to 2-1-1 in the net for the Johnnies as the Red Storm goalkeeper made two saves during the shutout victory. It was the first shutout of the season for the Delafield, Wis., native and the first of her collegiate career.
Melina Couzis scored her first goal since the 2021 spring season when she fired in a long ball from 30 yards out over the head of the Mids goaltender in the 15th minute. The tally was the third of her career and her first in the Red and White. Michelle Money converted a penalty attempt in the 73rd minute for the second score of the game. The goal marked her first of the season and the second of her career with the Johnnies.
Coming into the match with a 2-1-2 record, six St. John's players have recorded at least one goal this year. Jessica Garziano and Nicole Gordon lead the way with two goals apiece. Garziano also paces the Red Storm squad with three assists and seven points.
CCSU enters the contest at 2-3 on the year. This past preseason, Blue Devils were picked by the Northeastern Conference's head coaches to win their fifth-consecutive league championship. The squad returns three All-NEC members including three-time NEC Midfielder of the Year Roma McLaughlin. McLaughlin was included on the preseason watch list for the most prestigious individual award in college soccer, the 2022 MAC Hermann Trophy.
Mick D'Arcy is in his 23rd season at the helm for Central Connecticut State. The leader of the Blue Devils boasts a 227-164-38 overall record at CCSU. D'Arcy has taken his team to the NCAA Tournament on 10 separate occasions including the past four seasons.
Kristina Kelly leads the Blue Devils with two of the team's four goals this year. Aoife Horgan posts a squad-best two assists while Kelly Brady's seven shots are a team-high. Defensively, Caitlin Murphy has played all 450 minutes in goal for Central Connecticut State. The junior allows 1.20 goals per game with a .824 save percentage for the year.
St. John's leads the all-time series with the Blue Devils, 5-0. The teams last met at Belson Stadium during the 2016 campaign with the Johnnies defeating CCSU, 1-0, in overtime. The match marked St. John's Assistant Coach Samantha Masur's collegiate debut.
