St. John's (12-6, 2-5 BIG EAST) ended its recent slide with a decisive 77-61 win over the Bulldogs on Tuesday behind Joel Soriano's fifth 20-point performance of the season. The 20-point, 10-rebound effort bumped his NCAA-leading double-double total to 15, the most by a Johnnie in a single season since Zendon Hamilton, the team's coordinator of basketball operations, delivered 16 during the 1995-96 season.

Posh Alexander matched his career-best with six steals, as the junior guard now leads the BIG EAST and ranks 17th in the country with 2.4 steals per game. Alexander also moved into 10th place on the program's career steals list with 172 in three seasons, surpassing Erick Barkley's 166 and chasing Mark Jackson (174) for ninth on the chart.
St. John's enters Sunday's contest with UConn looking for its first road win over a top-10 opponent since knocking off No. 10/9 Marquette, 70-69, in Milwaukee on Feb. 5, 2019. The Red Storm's last win over a team ranked No. 6 or better in the Associated Press Poll was on Feb. 7, 2018 when St. John's downed top-ranked Villanova, 79-75, in Philadelphia.
UConn enters Sunday's matchup having dropped three of its last four games after opening the season with 14-straight wins. The Huskies have won 15-straight home games dating back to last season. UConn is a perfect 10-0 at home this season, including four wins at the XL Center. In their last contest in Hartford on Dec. 28, the Huskies knocked off Villanova, 74-66, behind Jordan Hawkins team-high 22-point effort.
