St. John’s to Visit Georgetown and Villanova

QUEENS, N.Y. – Riding a four-match win streak, the St. John's volleyball team will hit the road to battle Georgetown and Villanova on Friday and Saturday.
The Red Storm will travel to Washington D.C., to face off against Georgetown on Friday at 7 p.m. inside McDonough Arena. The Johnnies will then head back north to Villanova, Pa., for a date with the Wildcats on Saturday at 5 p.m. in Jake Nevin Field House.
The squad's match against Georgetown will have a broadcast and live stats available at GuHoyas.com. Saturday's match against Villanova will be broadcast on BEDN on FloSports, with live stats available at Villanova.com.
The Red Storm and the Hoyas will battle for the 37th time in program history. The Johnnies own a 26-10 all-time advantage over Georgetown, which includes a 13-5 record in Washington D.C. Their last meeting was in the 2022 regular season finale at Carnesecca Arena, where St. John's dropped Georgetown in straight sets.
On Saturday, the Johnnies and the Wildcats will meet for the 41st time. Villanova leads the all-time series 23-17 and is 12-6 against St. John's at Jake Nevin Field House. In the last meeting on Nov. 18, 2022, the Red Storm swept the Wildcats in straight sets. The Johnnies fell to Villanova, 3-1, in their first meeting of 2022.
After taking down DePaul and RV Marquette last weekend, the Johnnies are now tied for first place in the BIG EAST with the Golden Eagles at 7-1. St. John's victory over DePaul secured their fifth conference sweep, while the win over Marquette marked the first for the program since the 2019 BIG EAST Championship game.
Erin Jones was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week after notching the first triple-double for the program in over a decade. Last weekend, Jones racked up 33 total kills, 23 assists, 26 digs, five blocks. In St. John's win over Marquette, the sophomore's triple-double consisted of a whopping 22 kills, 17 digs and 14 assists paired with four blocks.
Magda Stambrowska asserted herself as a dominant presence in front of the net for the Johnnies, leading to her first BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week nod. The Katowice, Poland product registered eight total blocks, averaging one per set to go along with 14 kills hit at a 45 percent clip, last weekend.
Lucrezia Lodi was tabbed to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after amassing 33 kills, 21 digs, four blocks, two aces and an assist against DePaul and Marquette. She picked up her third double-double in conference play against Marquette, featuring a season-high 19 kills and 16 digs.
Against DePaul, Giorgia Walther became the 13th athlete in program history to surpass 1000 career kills, becoming the first to do so since Rachele Rastelli. The Junior notched her fourth double-double of the season against Marquette.
Georgetown sits at 3-5 in the BIG EAST, after falling to Villanova, 3-1 and Creighton, 3-0. Emily Wen serves as the Hoya's setter as she has recorded 708 total assists at 9.40 per set. Karis Park leads Georgetown in digs with 304, averaging four per set which is the fourth-best in the conference.
