St. John’s to Travel to RV Marquette and DePaul For Regular Season Finale

The Johnnies took down Marquette and DePaul earlier in the 2023 campaign
QUEENS, N.Y. – The St. John's volleyball team will travel to RV Marquette and DePaul this weekend to close out its regular season slate.
The Red Storm will travel to Milwaukee for a date with Marquette in the Al McGuire Center at 8 p.m. The next day, the Johnnies will take the short trip to Chicago to face off against DePaul in McGrath-Phillips Arena at 7 p.m.
Both matches will be streamed on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports. Live stats for the squad's match against the Golden Eagles will be available on GoMarquette.com while their match against the Blue Demons will have live stats provided on StatBroadcast.com.
St. John's enters the last weekend of its regular season slate with a 12-4 BIG EAST mark and a 20-8 overall record. The Johnnies suffered an 0-2 setback last week, where they fell to Seton Hall on the road last Wednesday, 3-0, and then to No. 15 Creighton inside Carnesecca Arena on Saturday, 3-1.
The Johnnies have clinched a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament Presented by Jeep, which will be held in Milwaukee starting next Wednesday, Nov. 22. The Red Storm is currently in sole possession of third place in the league. No. 15 Creighton and RV Marquette are tied for first place in the BIG EAST with a 14-2 record.
Against Seton Hall, Ludovica Zola racked up six blocks across three sets, averaging two denials per set for St. John's. Giorgia Walther paced her squad with 10 kills in the match.
Erin Jones continued to lead the way for the Johnnies last weekend, tallying a total of 20 kills, 29 assists, 13 digs, three block assists, and two aces.
Against Creighton, the sophomore notched her 11th double-double of the season. Jones posted 13 kills at a 44 percent clip with 20 assists and eight digs.
Lucrezia Lodi had a productive evening against the Bluejays, as she registered a team-high 19 kills at a 36.1 hitting percentage to go along with five digs, four total blocks and two aces.
Magda Stambrowska continued to be a leader in front of the net for the Johnnies against Creighton. The Katowice, Poland, native totaled six total blocks and four kills for the Red Storm. Three of the middle blocker's six denials were solo as she averaged 1.5 rejections per set against the Bluejays.
RV Marquette hosts St. John's with a 14-2 conference mark and an 18-9 overall record. Last weekend, the Golden Eagles went 2-0, besting Georgetown, 3-0 and Villanova, 3-1.
Aubrey Hamilton provides the offensive firepower for Marquette. The senior has provided 362 kills, averaging 3.74 kills per set which is the third highest in the conference. She has also logged 49 blocks and 187 digs.
DePaul welcomes the Red Storm to Chicago sitting at .500 in the BIG EAST with an 8-8 conference mark. The Blue Demons are coming off a 2-0 weekend where they took down Villanova and Georgetown, 3-1. The Johnnies have won eight out of their last 10 matches against DePaul.
The BIG EAST's kill leader Jill Pressly comes into the match with 427 slams at 4.47 per set. The outside hitter has also logged 300 digs, 38 total blocks and a team-high 24 aces. Rachel Krasowski serves as the Blue Demons libero. The senior has collected 457 digs at a BIG EAST best 5.08 per set.
